The Infertility Cure – Page 8

Just wanted to chime in here… congrats again Laura on your BFP!

No such news for us yet, but the diet changes we have made have been fabulous. Cutting out white flour in particular seems to be huge for me, especially for my IBD, which shows no symptoms when I eat on my new regimine! Yay! It is likely I could still conceive without the diet changes, as we are primarily dealing with male factor IF, but I feel so much better and have so much more energy, it is defeinitely worth it. I do miss my coffee, though… and have to confess I have splurged and treated myself to a couple of soy lattes – I figure once in a while won’t hurt…

Also, I just found this receipe for sugar free, wheat free apple pie – and it looks YUMMY! We have a bumper crop on our apple tree, so I will have to try this this weekend, but I had to share right away:

“Every Third Russian Abortion Ends in Patient’s Death,” MosNews, April, 8, 2005: “Two million abortions are performed in Russia every year, with only 1.5 million children actually being born. Moreover, badly performed surgeries kill every third patient and leave many infertile for the rest of their lives, Vladimir Kulakov, deputy director of the Russian Women’s Health Center reported at a video conference. ‘There are more than 6.5 million infertile women in Russia today, 15% of Russian couples are facing the problem of infertility,’ RIA Novosti quoted Kulakov as saying.

First IVF babies born using new chromosome counting technique

ScienceDaily (Feb. 7, 2011) — The first babies have now been born in the UK using a new technique pioneered at Oxford University to select the best embryos for IVF. The advance could bring hope to many British couples struggling to have a child and going through many cycles of IVF treatment.

George and Helen Ashton from Gloucestershire are thought to be the first couple to have babies in the UK after using a technique called microarray CGH with IVF embryos five days after fertilisation.

The technique allows the embryos to be checked for the right number of chromosomes before implantation in an IVF treatment, lessening the chance of miscarriage or Down’s syndrome.
